If you use iTunes to manage your music collection, you would know that it is a time consuming job. I like to keep my music library organised and spend lot of time on organising the tracks including keeping metadata up to date.
Organisation helps a lot specially if you have large number of songs in your collection and not many of them are purchased directly from iTunes store.
There is also a problem of duplicates if you keep purchasing the albums in iTunes store, as some collections will have duplicates in it. Leawo Tunes Cleaner will also take care of those also.
Leawo Tunes Cleaner is made to make these tasks easier for you. It helps in identifying duplicates or songs with problems and provides an easy interface to update them.
User Interface of Leawo Tunes Cleaner
User Interface of the application is very simple. Main screen shows the 4 icons with the options, which you can perform with this application.
The app allows you to clean the iTunes library or any other music folder. You can clean the duplicates or correct the metadata for the songs.
It also provides a numeric score based on the problems you have. First time when I ran the application, I got the 100 out of 100.
Incomplete songs will be organised in the lists based on the issues. You can just click a button to fix all the problems and it will update the metadata for the songs.
It also allows you to select the songs and update the fetched metadata, so it can be corrected before applying to song or iTunes.
I have tried it with good number of mp3 file and it is able to match many of them correctly. It also provides an option to override the already present metadata through preference, which will help in correct the wrong metadata also.
It is able to process around 500 mp3 file in few minutes, I would have spend hours to correct these files. You still need to do some manual corrections but it is still a good time saving.
The only issue is that some time it doesn’t fetch the correct album or cover art for the song, you can correct the album name manually but there is no way to refresh the cover art with the updated information.
It shows the different cover art and you can select which one you would like to use. The only thing, which I would like, is to add an option to refresh the data after some manual editing.
I use iFlicks for my video library management and ability to refresh the data after manual editing is very handy feature in that app.
Another thing is that if you mp3 files has all the tags with some incorrect information, it will not flag that file. It only checks for missing meta-data. I would still love to see an option to rescan them for corrections.
You can also select to clean-up duplicates. There are options for doing a quick scan or deep scan, you can even choose the level of deep scan.
It scans the iTunes library and provides a list of duplicate files, which can be used to remove duplicate songs. You can select the songs, which you want to remove and delete them from the app.
Save and Load Projects
You can also save the current work and load it back later on for the rework. This is a handy feature if you are starting with a huge library with lots of problems.
You can keep working on the correcting the data and apply it once you are satisfied with the changes.
It is a handy tool, which can help in your music media management. If you have a huge library with many songs missing metadata, this tool can save a lot of time and automate many things.
